Your Gateway to Youthful, Glowing Skin

Sciton BBL® HEROic™ at Lilivy Aesthetics & Wellness

At Lilivy Aesthetics & Wellness in Fort Wayne, BBL® HEROic™ is a physician-led BroadBand Light® treatment used to address visible sun damage, discoloration, diffuse redness, small facial vessels, and selected acne concerns with a plan tailored to your skin. It is a light-based treatment, not a resurfacing laser, which makes it a strong option for patients who want meaningful skin correction with minimal interruption to daily life.

Sun exposure has a way of accumulating. A little redness that lingers. Spots that seem to deepen every summer. Freckles, broken capillaries, uneven tone, or skin that no longer looks as clear as it feels. These changes are common, but they do not all need the same treatment.

The important question is not simply whether you are a candidate for BBL. It is whether BBL is the right tool for the concern you want to correct, the areas you want treated, your skin history, and the amount of downtime you can realistically accommodate. At Lilivy, we take the time to make that distinction.

Smarter Pulsed-Light Technology

What Is BBL® HEROic™?

BBL® HEROic™ is Sciton’s advanced BroadBand Light® platform. It uses targeted pulses of light to address visible pigment and vascular concerns in the skin, including brown spots, freckles, diffuse redness, and small facial vessels. The treatment can also be configured for Forever Clear BBL®, an acne-focused application used to help address active breakouts and inflammation.

Sciton’s BBL® HEROic™ platform uses Intelligent Control and a Skin Positioning System to help the provider deliver light more consistently across flat and curved areas of the skin. In a patient’s experience, that translates to a treatment that is fast, carefully customized, and designed with comfort in mind.

BBL® HEROic™ is often the right choice when your primary concern is color: unwanted brown pigment, redness, visible vessels, or a generally uneven-looking complexion. When texture, deeper lines, scar irregularities, or more intensive resurfacing are also priorities, Dr. Sublett may recommend a different treatment or a sequenced plan that includes HALO® TRIBRID™, MOXI™, or another appropriate modality.

What Can BBL® HEROic™ Be Used to Treat?

BBL® HEROic™ is designed for concerns that show up as unwanted color in the skin. Rather than treating every concern with the same setting, the treatment is selected and customized around the pigment, redness, visible vessels, acne activity, and treatment area involved.

At Lilivy, BBL® HEROic™ may be considered for:

  • Sun spots, freckles, and age-related brown pigment
  • Uneven skin tone and visible photodamage
  • Diffuse redness and rosacea-related redness
  • Small facial vessels and broken capillaries
  • Cherry angiomas and other appropriate vascular concerns
  • Dullness that is primarily related to uneven pigment or redness
  • Active acne through the Forever Clear BBL® application, when clinically appropriate
  • Selected body areas with visible sun exposure or pigment concerns

For facial care, Lilivy offers BBL® HEROic™ as Face + Neck or Face + Neck + Chest treatment combinations. This allows the plan to respect how the skin ages across connected areas rather than treating the face in isolation.

A Lower-Downtime Path to Clearer-Looking Skin

What Are the Benefits of BBL® HEROic™?

The benefit of BBL® HEROic™ is not that it treats every skin concern. It is that it can address the right color-based concerns efficiently, with little disruption for many patients.

Potential benefits include:

  • A more even-looking skin tone
  • Reduced appearance of sun spots, freckles, and visible photodamage
  • Less visible diffuse redness and selected facial vessels
  • More clarity in the overall complexion
  • A fast treatment option for larger, appropriate body areas
  • Customizable settings based on concern, area, and skin assessment
  • A practical maintenance treatment for patients committed to long-term skin quality
  • The ability to be sequenced thoughtfully with other treatments when more than pigment or redness is involved

A Match or a Maybe?

Am I a Candidate for BBL® HEROic™?

Ideal Candidates

A good candidate for BBL® HEROic™ is often someone who wants to address brown pigment, redness, freckles, visible vessels, or accumulated sun exposure without the recovery period of a more intensive resurfacing treatment. It can be especially useful for patients who are noticing that their skin tone looks less even, even when their texture and volume are otherwise in a good place.

It may also be a meaningful part of an ongoing skin-quality plan. Some patients choose BBL® HEROic™ for periodic maintenance. Others use it as the first step before considering HALO® TRIBRID™, MOXI™, injectables, or a Signature Protocol. The recommended sequence depends on the condition of the skin and the outcome you want.

When We May Recommend a Different Path

BBL® HEROic™ is not automatically the right treatment for every pigment concern, every skin tone, or every event timeline. We may recommend a different approach, postpone treatment, or adjust the timing if you have a recent tan, active skin irritation or infection, open areas of skin, a history of pigmentation concerns that warrants added caution, or medications and skincare products that affect treatment safety.

Your consultation includes a review of your skin, medical history, skincare routine, current medications, and prior treatments. Honest screening protects both your skin and your result.

A Peet at the Visit

What Is a BBL® HEROic™ Appointment Like?

Your appointment begins with a skin assessment and, when appropriate, clinical photography. We discuss the concerns you want to address, the areas you would like treated, your history of sun exposure and skin sensitivity, and what outcome feels meaningful to you.

For facial BBL® HEROic™, the treatment plan will be either Face + Neck or Face + Neck + Chest. The skin is cleansed, eye protection is placed, and a clear gel may be applied to the treatment area. The provider then guides the handpiece across the skin, delivering brief pulses of light with integrated cooling.

Most patients describe the sensation as a quick warm snap. The level of sensation varies by area and setting, but the treatment is generally well tolerated without injectable anesthesia. Afterward, the skin can look pink or feel warm, similar to mild sun exposure. Your provider will review exactly what to expect based on the treatment performed.

When the Clearing Begins

When Will I See Results From BBL® HEROic™?

Some changes are visible early. Skin may look clearer once temporary redness settles, and treated brown pigment often becomes more noticeable before it starts to fade. The timeline depends on what was treated and how your skin responds.

For pigment and photodamage, many patients notice a more even-looking complexion as spots clear over the following days and weeks. For redness and visible vessels, improvement can build gradually. Acne-focused care requires its own treatment schedule and should be evaluated over time rather than after one appointment.

BBL® HEROic™ supports skin quality, but it does not stop future sun exposure, skin aging, or new pigment formation. Consistent sunscreen, medical-grade skincare when appropriate, and maintenance treatments can help protect the outcome.

BBL® HEROic™

Frequently Asked Questions

BBL® HEROic™ is the most advanced pulsed light technology available today.

While BBL® HEROic™shares the same core technology with its predecessors—BBL® and BBL® HERO™—HEROic™ introduces revolutionary technological advancements, including Intelligent Control™ (IC™) software and the Skin Positioning System™ (SPS™). These innovations facilitate faster, more effective treatments, enhanced patient comfort, and exceptional results for every patient.

During a BBL® HEROic™ treatment, a clear gel is applied over the treatment areas to help your skin absorb light energy. As the treatment begins, you should feel minimal to no discomfort as your provider gently glides the handpiece over the skin.

Pulsed light improves your skin in two ways. Initially, it targets highly vascular and pigmented areas like visible blood vessels or sunspots, breaking them down for absorption by the body. Additionally, the generated heat acts within the collagen-rich areas, triggering the body's healing response and resulting in a more youthful appearance.

A treatment with BBL® HEROic™ is generally well-tolerated by most patients. It is commonly described as feeling like a quick snap on the skin, with the sensation fading swiftly as the handheld device pulses over the skin. Thanks to BBL® HEROic™’s CoolComfort™ technology, which cools the epidermis during the procedure, topical anesthesia is not necessary. After the treatment, it is normal for the skin to feel warm for about 30 to 60 minutes.

There is minimal-to-no downtime following treatment with BBL® HEROic™. Patients can typically resume normal activities immediately.

Key points to remember, include:

Skin sensitivity: Your skin may feel sensitive, like a mild sunburn, but this typically subsides within 48 hours.

Healing process: You might notice temporary darkening of pigmented areas, along with some redness and swelling. These are part of the natural healing process where damaged cells are replaced by new ones, repairing your skin.

Post-treatment care: Follow your provider's advice, avoid direct sun exposure, and wear broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen to protect the skin, especially during the first 72 hours post-treatment. Depending on the skin's pre-existing condition, mild discomfort, dryness, or minor crusting may occur.

Skincare and makeup: You can typically resume using skincare products and makeup within 1-2 days post-treatment.

BBL® HEROic™ can be performed anywhere on the face or body.

A week or two after a BBL® HEROic™ treatment, your skin will appear more even, youthful, glowing, and smooth. Visible results can be seen in just 1 to 2 treatments, while optimal results are generally seen after completing a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart. Your skin will continue to improve in the weeks and months following your BBL® HEROic™ sessions.

Your provider will work with you to create a customized treatment plan that addresses your specific skin revitalization needs.

Typically, a series of three treatments, spaced approximately three weeks apart, is recommended. Once you have reached your goals, periodic maintenance treatments will help keep your skin healthy and glowing.

A BBL® HEROic™ treatment typically takes 20-30 minutes, depending on the size and areas being treated.

BBL® HEROic™ is easily combined with other Sciton modalities, such as HALO® and MOXI™, for enhanced results and less downtime.
